I was at St Johns Episkopi and Akrotiri as a twelve year old, (second trip). Dad was a Chief Tech on the Vulcans. I spent every possible moment at the Angling Club and your photos of the club brought back some great memories. I also lived at 12 Charles St and your shots from therealso made me smile. Great photos, great memories. Thanks very much. By the way, I didn't like living in England after several years in Cyprus and have been living in Australia for the last nineteen years. |

The 24hr 5 a side footie was held at the go kart circuit on the road back from Buttons Bay, wasn't it?. There was also a 24hr Table Tennis comp at the same time. Some of us sneaked off to the nearby Officer's swimming pool for a midnight skinny dip. Sadly, the Snowdrops didn't enjoy our sense of fun & freedom, and came and took us back.
Happy Days! |

I was a member from 1969-1972. I still have the trophies from a couple of regatta wins in Larks,Fireflys & Albacores in the attic somewhere. On a sail across the bay to a regatta in Episkopi in a recently refurbished Firefly, myself & Richard Haining sank spectacularly. After some hours in the sea, we were rescued by one Eric Lough, who sacrificed his own dinghy to take us ashore, where we were whisked off in a Whirlwind helicopter for a couple of days in hospital and week or so off school. I will always be grateful to Eric! |

Gotta love the Astra Cinema, salty popcorn, slightly more comfortable seats, freezing airconditioning and very loud speakers. Good fun tho |

I have a similar St John's school magazine from 1972, when the headmaster was one H.B. Woodward, B.A.
Stories include the school visit to Isreal the year before, coverage of the Golden Horseshoe Hike by Cathy Duffill & Karen Greatorex, the year's play [A Man For All Seasons], and planning details for the new St John's, to be ready in 1974. Oh, and my sister's CSE pass! |
